Hi. Today I wanted to write about the different uses of solar powered water fountains, and specifically the benefits of some of them.
Take for instance a combination bird bath and water fountain. With this, obviously you will have the added benefit of attracting birds to the garden. How? - well by by ensuring the fountain has a small pod on the side, or around, the fountain that birds can land on, and then eat seed that you might place there. After their feed, they may as well just have a quick bath as well. This activity will also attract more birds to investigate and join in.
Another idea is to attach a cuttle fish or seed bar to the fountain. These are usually available at most pet shops and can be affixed by simple wire method or hook. Birds will come and feed of them by literally hanging almost upside down on them. Yes, I have seen them do it, and it such a cute and wonderful site. Very satisfying to the soul as well, to bring such peace and pleasure to the native birds in your area.
Another type of inexpensive solar powered water fountain available in the market if space is tight, is simply a water lily. So if you already have a garden pond, bird bath, or even in your pool (if you are luck enough to have one), you can place a solar powered water lily fountain as a feature. The pad of the lily acts as the solar panel, or the centre of the lily may also have a solar cell, which charges, and by use of a very small and lightweight pump on the underside of the lily, water is drawn up and sprouted out through the centre of the lily to project a wonderful, simple and inexpensive feature for your garden or pool setting. It sure makes for an interesting talking point when friends and guests come over.
Also, it is worth mentioning that in most cases, the use of a solar powered water fountain is an ecologically friendly method of bringing this feature to the garden, It requires no wiring, no expensive electricity installation, and only of you require twilight hours performance, the use of a small battery pack or AC adapter drawing only 3-8 watts is required. So if you are looking for an economical but attractive and simple water fountain feature for the garden without the hassle of complicated installation, solar powered water fountains are the ideal solution.
Craig is a keen gardener and always looking for simple, attractive and inexpensive ways of enhancing the garden, in the most ecologically friendly way. Having put in place a couple of solar powered features in the garden, nothing beats the simplicity and tranquility of the the sound of a water fountain. And now there are so many ways you can use solar powered devices to do this.
